Zhang Liao all the way he is my favorite character and his weapon is awesome the crescent spear i know Guan Yu has one as well but to me his move set is really crappy or to how i use him some people think he might have a good move set and i respect that cause it is what you think as i like Zhang Liao for his outfit and his awesome since of honor to know when a battle is lost like when he was with Lu Bu and was getting attack by Cao Cao and Liu Bei.

I'd have to say Guan Yu. The two have battled and both complimented each other on their sense of honor which wouldn't be much of a factor. And whenit comes to dominating a battle... it goes to Guan Yu. Zhang Liao is more for duel purposes while Guan Yu is both a mass killer and a duelist.
The moveset is truly in Guan Yu's favor. Zhang Liao's is a lot more dextrious, but Guan Yu's covers him better and still takes a LARGE chunk out of whoever gets hit.

It's a hard decision because I like them both but i'll give the edge to Guan Yu because Shu is my favorite:)

Zhang Liao gets my vote. He was pretty damn amazing and Guan Yu died pretty early  Plus he is awesome and he serves under Wei and thats enough to convince me =D |

remember that Guan Yu was a threat to both Wei and Wu before Fan castle, they feared him indeed even without Liu Bei's command he was pretty damn good to make Wei fear him inside the castle while Cao Ren is waiting for Wu to come.
and dont forget that Zheng Liao also did the same, he pushed back Wu from He Fei without Cao Cao to lead the force himself, most battles of Wei without Cao Cao has been lost, but Zhang Liao was worthy to handle a battle as a commander, however I think that are both good, really I dont know who to chose.

Well at the moment it is a tie and taking Xiu Lao points I think that is a very good place to be at the moment cause they are very true but when it comes down to it is a matter of opinon |

i pick Guan Yu, i mean just look at all of the officers he was famed to kill with one blow. besides, Zhang Liao just always reminded me of the soldiers in the Wizard of Oz, especially in DW4.
