Nah, they numb the lower part of your elbow using anesthetics, then they insert that tube into your arm.
And besides, it's one of the easiest and most effective way of helping others. Blood donation. =D

Haha, nah. But you do have to take iron tablets everyday for 2 weeks to replenish the blood lost.

Then it's probably best you not look at the bag of blood they collect. And it's also best you don't move when they are putting that tube into you.
My friend twitched when it was in his arm, and the needle got a bit dislodged.
Blood sprayed out like a fountain.
... It was kinda awesome. >_>
