The life of a pirate was not a glamorous one. Lifen had seen the many things men had done, some even attempted their tricks on her in the beginning. Of course once she threatened to castrate them they never attempted to make a move, but she could always feel them watching her. Hiei was probably familiar with pirates, but she wondered how he visualized a female pirate to be. As rare as they were, they had a reputation as well and while Lifen wasn't one who followed the same pirate 'morals' she wondered if he would think so? She found the thought amusing, she'd let him think whatever he wanted to think it just made things more interesting.
Good, bad it didn't matter. Now wasn't the time to think about her family. They were a fairly large group her parents, her younger sibling and the aunts and uncles that they would occasionally meet up with. Yu Lifen brought the drink to her lips and took a swing, downing the rest of her drink swiftly. Returning to her bowl, she focused on her food, pausing between bites. She didn't want to think about her family any longer, it would stir up unnecessary emotions, or at least unnecessary for the time being. "I guess." she echoed.

-------------------------------------------------------- And there would be silence, Hiei allowing a cough to emerge before he drank a few sips off his cups, questioning the awkward silence. He would take another pinch of his meal then, his crimson hues allowing itself to glance upwards, over her shoulders and at the three men, whom he noticed seemed to have quietened down, all three leaning forward to whisper to each other instead. Hiei furrowed his eyebrows, his left hand subtly sliding to the edge of the table. If these three guys were to attack, Hiei would not need his weapons. He would only need the gauntlets that were latched onto his outer thighs. The Raven Fists.
"I guess."
And his attention would divert back to her, keeping his watch on the three men brief casual glances, not wanting to get off guard, especially with so much on the table at stake. Literally. Hiei wanted to finish his meal. He would raise an eyebrow at her, as if amused, as he sat up, his head once more tilting, an expression of his curiousity and confusion. However, as much as he wanted to probe into the matter, it seemed, from her reaction, that she did not appreciate that talk. Hiei would have to comply with that.
"How's the food?"
Ah, yes, one of the most basic questions used in a situation like this to create, or at least, attempt to, a conversation when a silence ever came. And Hiei had a lot more than that, of course. He just thought it would be appropriate... Considering, you know, they had just recently started eating. And, since Hiei was the one paying, he wanted to at least make sure she was getting good food. Yeah.
