The Rise of Yomi By 666akatsuki ((Once again I was bored and generated a complete fiction story which involves what Toboe becomes at the age of twenty and follows on from ‘Heartless Demon’ which is the death of Tsuki. This in no way happens in true history and doesn’t run with current role-play plots of these characters. Also contains fantasy of demon related matters.)) Chapter One : Rise To Power Toboe strolled down the long empty corridors of the palace. He had done this many times before but this time he wasn’t here to see Lord Cao Pi but instead the council formed by Masa. He was brought up to refer to that man as his uncle but he only saw him as a thorn in his side. He reached the large golden doors and stood before them like he were looking up the gate to Heaven. Softly his hands touched the wooden handles and he gently pushed the doors open and walked in. Masa rose from his chair and glared at Toboe. His actions were swiftly followed by the six other council members. “You do not have a meeting so you should not be here. I suggest you leave at once.” Masa spoke, glaring down upon Toboe. Toboe simply smirked as he challenged Masa’s authority and walked towards the long wooden table. His hand glided across the beautiful patterns that had been carved by a master craftsman, the swirls that formed great dragons and birds that seemed to dance together within the frame work. “Few times have I seen this wonderful table, why uncle do you hate me?” Toboe questioned, his eyes rising up and his smile fading as he waited for an answer. Masa bared his teeth for a second in a threatening why towards the boy. “Ever since your mother died you have never been the same. You used to be an innocent little boy who dreamed of honour and joining your father on the battle field to dance through the great armies together. Now, all I see is a petty tyrant who follows his uncle Yamato into war just to taste blood on your sword.” Masa spoke, raising his voice as he stepped forward and flicked his wrist to dismiss the six council members. He walked up to Toboe, now being towered over by the warrior due to the difference in height. “You truly have shown the darkest side of both sides of your family.” Masa spoke causing Toboe to lash out and punch Masa to the floor. Masa grunted in pain and wiped the blood from his lips and got to his feet and faced Toboe once more. The glaring match continued at the two males wrestled for the right to glare the other one down but neither backed down and eventually Toboe backed off. “I see now why Yamato saw you as the most powerful of his body guards back in the days. Compared to Tsumugari and Techi you are like a God compared to them. I’m sick of this! You never accepted me since Tsuki died. Don’t you think I’m burning inside? I miss her every day, I was there when she was slaughtered by Techi. I guess you’re just so cold hearted that you don’t know what I’m going through...” Toboe was cut off as Masa punched him hard and tackled him to the ground and pressed a dagger against his throat. “You can whimper all you like Toboe, but you know nothing of my past. Never say I don’t know what’s it like to burn inside and wish you could go back and change the past. I know better than anyone about the pain of seeing friends and family dying. Now get out of my sight.” Masa hissed as he got off Toboe and walked away from him, sighing from exhaustion. Toboe stood up and glared at Masa as the man walked away but Toboe resisted the urge to continue the fight and just left the room, slamming the golden doors behind him. He walked outside and stood under the sakura trees and watched the pink petals dance within the breeze and land gracefully upon his armour and in his hair. He sighed softly and held out his hand to catch one. “Mother... you used to love these trees.” He whispered as he gently touched the tiny petal in his hand before he crushed it and threw it to the ground. “I cannot become you, you were weak mother. To think you were once feared as the Dark Tsukuyomi. You had the most powerful guardian but you never used it, why?!” Toboe screamed into the wind. “She knew that she couldn’t control it so she didn’t take the risk of summoning it.” Came a voice from behind Toboe which spooked the warrior and made him stagger backwards and fall over his own feet. Yamato stood over him and chuckled at him. “You are too much like your mother, now come, we have work to do.” Yamato spoke, referring to the plan of over-throwing the rule of Wei in order to gain a new foot-hold in China. He knew now was the perfect time since Wu and Shu were weakened greatly and were on the verge of being defeated. He smirked and pulled Toboe to his feet and walked with him towards the stables to fetch their horses to ride out back to Xia Pi. Yamato’s hand gracefully glided across BlackRain’s coat, the old mare known to run faster than the wind. Toboe took his most powerful stallion, Divining Crimson, a great stallion that resembled the legendary Red Hare. The two of them set out, the sound of their thundering hooves echoing through the crowded streets and reaching the ears of Saki, Masa’s daughter. Her beautiful long black hair floated in the breeze as she watched Yamato and Toboe set out, she sighed and ran to deliver the news to her Lord and father. Cao Pi at that moment in time was already talking to Masa and both agreed about the threat posed from the two Yomi clan members. “I cannot have this continuing in my kingdom; they have poisoned the minds of the troops with their talk of demons. I need those two dealt with immediately...” Cao Pi was cut off as Saki burst into the room and bowed to him before she stood up panting her words. “Yamato and Toboe have set off for Xia Pi; I believe they have an army massed there. What course of action should we take my Lord?” She questioned, bowing her head again to her father. Masa turned to Cao Pi. “I believe we should dispatch an army to meet them to sub-due this problem, maybe we need to involve Sima Yi in this plan. Surely he can read the chaotic mind of Yamato and see through his plans.” Masa suggested, he didn’t want to take chances and requested that they hit hard against the Yomi clan. Cao Pi sighed, he could see the logic behind Masa’s idea but he didn’t want to put Sima Yi in danger and he wanted to avoid distracting Sima Yi from the battles against Shu and Wu. “No, send in Saki or your other daughter, Kamiki. I understand that Toboe has a great love for Kamiki, we can use that to our advantage.” Cao Pi replied and watched the horror upon Masa’s face. Masa shook his head. “I can’t, it doesn’t matter if Toboe won’t attack them but Yamato will. Please you must reconsider a different plan.” Masa begged and looked at Saki and saw her frowning. “I will go and fight, I can get Toboe to come back to us and free him from the darkness of his uncle’s heart.” Came a soft voice from a nearby corridor; Kamiki walked out from the shadows and she stepped forward and bowed to Cao Pi and Masa but not her sister. “Toboe loves me and I believe love can defeat evil. He told me he is the controller of the White Tsukuyomi, the guardian of light so I know his heart is good but he is merely confused by the magic of the Black Tsukuyomi of Yamato.” Kamiki spoke; Toboe told her everything and never kept things from her. Cao Pi stood from his seat and glared at Kimiki. “Silence! Enough of these lies and tales of demons, he has poisoned your mind as well with false stories. Unfortunately I have little choice but to let you go to fight against Yamato and Toboe. Go, go now.” He spoke as he sat back down, sick to the teeth of hearing people talk of demons. Kamiki bowed and turned to walk away to ready her steed for departure. Kamiki refused to take body guards with her and continued onwards with a breaking heart. She didn’t want to fight against the man she loved but she knew it was for the safety of Wei. She sighed and thought about her sister, Saki. The two of them had never gotten along after the death of their own mother which was caused by Kamiki when she knocked a candle over and let the house burn down with their dear old mother trapped inside. Kamiki would give anything to end the feud with Saki but things only got worse as they fought over Toboe back when he was younger and happier and before his mind was consumed by Yamato. She sighed as she rode along, being alone was dangerous but she wanted to take the risk. A day passed and she soon approached Xia Pi’s South Gate and was allowed entrance within the stronghold. She dismounted and walked along the street up to the grand building that loomed over the rest of Xia Pi; she was surrounded by soldiers and found it rather scary. She entered the building and bowed to Toboe and Yamato. Toboe got to his feet and smile with joy at the sight of the woman he loved and he started walking towards her but Yamato placed himself between them. “Don’t be fooled Toboe, Cao Pi has sent her to confuse you and make you divert from your true goal. Guards, destroy this witch and burn her evil body within crimson flames.” Yamato spoke and he turned to return to his seat. Toboe looked in shock at his uncle and then to Kamiki who was screaming as the guards grabbed her arms, Toboe couldn’t take it and ran to her and fought the guards back. “If any one of you touches her, I’ll make sure you lie dead in the mud. She’s mine!” He snarled, a dark aura surrounding his body which made everyone scamper away in fear of awakening the demon spirit within Toboe. Yamato watched him and grinned. “Fine, take that witch and do what you like with her. I won’t stop you.” He spoke seeing great use in Kamiki. (end of Chapter one)

Chapter Two : The Demon Attacks Toboe softly rocked Kamiki back and forth within his arms, whispering warm hearted words into her ears. He could feel her tears falling upon his armour and it tore him up inside. “I’m... so sorry. Kamiki, why did you come here?” He asked, he hoped that Yamato was not right. Kamiki sniffled and looked up at Toboe, her hazel eyes filled with sorrow and deep pain. “I wanted to save you. You’re not a demon, you’re too good to be a monster. I beg of you, please return with me and stop this madness.” Kamiki whimpered, burying her face into Toboe’s chest as she wailed loudly as her heart throbbed violently within her chest. Toboe bared his teeth, his fangs growing and resembled those of a wolf. He was outraged that Kamiki was trying to protect Wei but yet his heart desired to follow her word. “I can’t, Yamato would kill me.” Toboe replied, he feared his uncle greatly as he had seen the nightmare that was hidden behind the gentle eyes of Yamato. His body shivered as he thought back to that dark night and he clutched tightly upon Kamiki. He felt her squirming as he slowly began crushing her, he gasped and released her before he stood up and backed against the wall. “This isn’t fair, why must I suffer? I wish my father was here to help guide me, he actually knew what to do.” Toboe whispered as he left the room and leaned against the door. Kamiki whined softly, a strange white aura surrounding her body as she sat alone upon the bed, her hazel eyes turning bright blue. “I must save you at any cost.” The sun rose high into the mid-day sky and Yamato had called a meeting with a wise woman that had been captured. “I hear you can summon the spirit of your son? I want to see this in action.” Yamato demanded. The woman shook her head and stepped back. “I cannot waste my son’s energy for petty desires for such ungrateful creatures.” She snarled back but Yamato loomed over her with a dark smirk smearing across his lips. “If you do not show me then I’ll have no choice but to kill you then.” He let a harsh sounding growl erupt from his throat and let his lips curl back to reveal the long white fangs that rapidly grew. He held up his hand and slowly long curved claws grew from his finger tips and he slashed at the woman. “Don’t drive my patience!” He roared but his attack was deflected by a red mist, the mist danced around them and took the form of a large red wolf. “Kenshi, please. Return to the Spirit World before it is too late my son. That demon will devour you.” The woman pleaded but Kenshi stood his ground and glared at Yamato, his form slowly becoming solid rather than spiritual. “So you are the great Kenshi, the old friend of Tsuki I’m guessing? I have always wanted to meet you.” Yamato grinned as he launched himself at Kenshi and attempted to rip out the spirit’s throat but Kenshi back flipped out the way and landed gracefully before bouncing around Yamato playfully in a taunting manner. Yamato was swiftly growing annoyed by the over-confidence that Kenshi was showing as the spirit eluded him. “That’s enough! Sealing God of all things chaos I beg of thy to entrap this lost spirit in the Medallion of Tau!” A bright light swirled from a necklace that hung around Yamato’s neck and wrapped around Kenshi like chains of light and pulled the spirit into the medallion and trapped him within it and under Yamato’s control. The woman started crying loudly as he begged for her son back but Yamato rose up a sword and cut the old woman down where she stood. He smirked and pressed a foot down upon the body to force blood to come spurting forth from the wound. He grinned evilly before turning away and walked back to his quarters to clean himself up. Far away to the South the thundering roar of hooves and the echo of a thousand feet travelled across the landscape towards the borders of Wei in a desire of returning home for the first time in many years. The exhausted men had been based within enemy territory and had been forced to endure countless suns of war with Shu and Wu, but the word reached them and gave them permission to return home for the first time in nearly ten years. Many were pleased but yet some were heart-broken at the thought of backing away from the battle just to rest. One man sighed as he dreamt of his home back in Xia Pi, but his heart ached at the thought of going back only to see chaos rather than the warm arms of his wife. He regretted the day he was unable to be there to protect his dear wife, Tsuki, and then to have to leave his son behind under the care of man he barely trusted. He lowered his head and led the long stream of tired men to the warmth of their old beds. Toboe wandered the dark halls of the palace and sighed. He could he trust now; his heart desired Kamiki but his fears called out to serve Yamato. He curled his hands into fists and slammed his hand into the wall in rage. “Why do I fear him?! He is nothing compared to me, I am as strong as Lu Bu!” He screamed, releasing his fury upon his surroundings as he attacked the walls and decorations along the hallway. He suddenly stopped his rampage as he noticed Kamiki watching him, his jaw dropped slightly and he looked away from her in shame. How could something as beautiful as her love a violent monster like him? He was unworthy of her delicate touch and heart of light. He backed away down the corridor to escape her hazel eyes from watching him but she followed him. Kamiki knew that Toboe was scared inside and felt trapped. She wanted to help save him from his depression and prove the true person he was meant to be. “Please... Toboe, don’t walk away. No matter what you choose I will always love you. I still remember that moon lit night when we first met; you gave me a single rose and told me that it was as red as my lips. I never forgot that night because you’re special to me. Please, don’t push me away.” Kamiki begged, proving just how much she loved him by reminding him of his true beauty. Toboe looked at her, his eyes glistened as tears filled them as his heart pounded with emotions as he remembered that night. “We first kissed under the ancient willow tree.” Toboe spoke and he started to walk towards Kamiki and burst out into tears and fell into her arms before he fell to his knees and dragged her down with him. “Why?! Why is nothing turning out right?” Toboe wept as Kamiki’s soft hand gracefully wiped his tears away. “Life has many crossroads, not every path leads to something good but you are strong and can endure each decision. I don’t mind what you do; I just want to be there by your side.” Kamiki whispered to him, her voice sending him into a daze and peace of mind. She was able to get him to his feet and guide him to his room and place him in bed, she made her choice and crawled into the bed with him to comfort his dreams as he slipped into a blissful slumber. Yamato stood in the great library and gazed into the crimson flames that violently attacked the wood that he had set upon it. Everything was going according to plan in his mind but then a messenger burst into the room. Yamato turned and hissed at the man. “You dare disturb me at this hour?! This better be important!” He shouted and watched the messenger cowered upon the floor. “Ex... excuse the interruption my Lord, but Lu Xiang is returning from war. He’ll be here in five days.” The messenger stuttered and fled the room immediately to avoid being scolded. Yamato stood in horror; the true ruler of Xia Pi was returning from war. This was a thorn in his plans and could easy grow roots and rip apart his power over the land. “I’ll have to delay my plan to attack Xu Chang and take out Xiang first.” Yamato hissed as he glared into the fire. Chapter Three: The Clash of Lords Yamato readied the archers along the walls and forced everyone into formation. He wasn’t going to take any chances with Xiang returning. “Of all the things to happen. I just know Cao Pi is behind this.” He muttered as he stood upon the balcony of his room, inside his room two pretty girls sat upon his bed and awaited his return but he was in no mood. “Be gone you vile peasants!” He snapped at the girls and they left in a chorus of swears at him. He didn’t care anymore; Xiang was the only thing that truly bothered him anymore. He got dressed within his armour and prepared to lure the great warrior into a trap. The days passed swiftly and Xiang’s army were only a mere six miles from Xia Pi. Xiang sighed and out-stretched his arm to the sky and a shadow appeared from the sun. A large eagle swooped down and landed upon his glove and stared at him. It’s black eyes glistened and reflected what it had seen whilst it had scouted ahead. It had seen the forces forming at Xia Pi and foretold the danger that lay ahead. Xiang sighed and wondered what had happened whilst he was gone, but it didn’t take much guessing to know that it was Yamato’s doing. “Toboe... please be okay.” He whispered to himself as he feared what had happened to Toboe and hoped that his son was not dead. As the river of men reached the gates the archers Yamato had set readied their bows and lined the walls. They waited for the signal to fire from the commanders but no signal came but instead the gates swung open to allow the exhausted men inside the fortress. Yamato was waiting at the palace stairs as he let his plan unfold. Xiang rode up to the palace and spotted Yamato, a dark frown spread across his lips as he looked at the state of his land. The people were in poor condition and from the looks of things all the money went into the military. He dismounted and stormed up to Yamato. “What has gotten into your head?! What is the meaning of these poor conditions and your men aiming arrows at my head?!” He demanded as he towered over Yamato but he simply smirked back at the great warrior and his eyes fought back at Xiang. “I have improved these tired walls; I have also raised your son quite well. He is now a true warrior and serves a noble cause. Why don’t you join me and help bring Wei to it’s knees.” Yamato offered but Xiang glared in disgust at the thought to turning upon his oath brothers and kingdom for a lowly dreamer. “Get out my land right now before I strike you down where you stand!” Xiang roared, outraged by Yamato’s actions. He reached to draw his sword but something pushed him violently against the chest and forced the breath from his lungs and caused him to take his hand away from the hilt. He staggered backwards in shock and stared at Yamato. The man was different, his canine teeth stuck out from his mouth and his ears were pointed like a dog. “What are you?” Xiang questioned as he sensed the foul stench of evil in the air. Toboe sat on the edge of the bed and stared at Kamiki as she slept; he blushed as he gazed at her and couldn’t resist stroking her long flowing hair. “You remind me of my mother and I’m my dad. I guess this fate runs in the family. Strong men meeting pretty girls.” He joked but Kamiki couldn’t hear him in her dreams but she often smiled as he spoke. Toboe was nearing his final decision and it was leaning towards Kamiki and Wei. He leaned in to kiss her but a loud explosion outside woke her up and her head hit Toboe on the nose and made him whimper in pain. “Oh Toboe, I’m so sorry.” Kamiki panicked and bit her lip but another explosion took their attention and they ran to the window to look outside and saw smoke coming from in front of the palace. “What on earth...?” Toboe spoke and quickly got his armour on and ran to see what it was, Kamiki chased after him but Toboe told her to stay away and she obeyed. Toboe panted as the heavy armour absorbed his energy; he passed the armoury and grabbed his spear and rushed to the explosion site only to find Yamato and Xiang fighting. “Father... Uncle?” He stood in awe as Yamato created orbs of fire and threw them at Xiang but the mighty warrior hit them away like flies. He stood in confusion not certain who to help as his heart began to rip in two. He clasped at his chest and he felt his heart constricting upon itself, he coughed up blood from the shear stress of the situation. Yamato didn’t give up as he used his magic upon Xiang. “I’ll give you one last chance to get on your knees and beg for mercy!” Yamato snarled as his hair started to lift up and form a long flowing mane of black hair and his eyes beamed crimson with rage. Xiang grunted and scowled at the half-demon. “I’ll never abandon Wei! Only cowards abandon their friends and home, I’ve already lost Tsuki and I refuse to let the same thing happen to my son. I’ll happily die to free him from your lies and wrath!” Xiang cried out as energy built up within him as he slashed his sword and a shockwave struck Yamato and knocked him across the tiles of the courtyard. Yamato grunted and pulled himself to his feet and wiped the blood from his lip. “I see I’ll have to resort to drastic measures.” Yamato sat down and crossed his legs and closed his eyes as he began praying. Xiang was confused at first but wasn’t going to take risks and sprinted at Yamato and swung his sword at the man to slice his head off. CLANG!! Xiang fell back as his sword broke in two against a dark mist that formed around Yamato, it touched his boot and he felt a violent burning sensation so crawled away from the mist. Once he was at a safe distance he checked his foot and noticed that the mist had eaten right through his boot and burnt the skin on his foot. “What is this?” He watched the mist rise up and formed the head of a wolf. Slowly it rose up and it’s shimmering body formed from Yamato, the man was no more as he had been consumed by the great creature that stood in the courtyard. It’s body took shape fully and it’s fearsome horns extended from the skull, the demon towered over Xiang and curled it’s lips back to reveal the glistening silver fangs and bright pink gums that were concealed within black lips. “You dare challenge me?!” It roared, it’s voice echoing throughout Xia Pi and struck fear within every warrior in ear shot. The demon lifted it’s front end up and rose it’s claw up into the sky and brought it down upon Xiang in an attempt to crush the warrior. “Forgive me Tsuki, Toboe, I have failed you both.” (Does Xiang get crushed? Tune in next time for Chapter four)

Chapter Four: Love and Hate Collide “Father?” Came an echoed voice, the sound hit Xiang as if an angel were speaking to him and taking him to Heaven. “Am I dead?” He asked the light that shone upon him but a shadow leaned over him and blocked the light. “Dad! Get up please!” Came the voice again, it was full of sadness and pain and it drew him towards that voice. He opened his eyes and stared at Toboe who was crying his eyes out, his son thought that he was dead but when Toboe saw that Xiang was awake he burst out into a flood of tears of joy. “You’re alive!” Toboe yelled as he got up and jumped about like a child before returning to his father’s side and helped him up. “Father, I thought that Tokoyami got you. I was so scared when you were just lying there motionless.” Xiang blinked in confusion, Toboe said Tokoyami rather than Tsukuyomi which he thought was the clan guardian of the Yomi’s. “What do you mean, Tokoyami? Wasn’t that a Tsukuyomi?” He asked, Toboe shook his head at his father. “That is a type of Tsukuyomi known as Tokoyami, it is the darker eviller spirits that live upon hate, and desire nothing but power. The Tsukuyomi are different as they are just normal demons that can be controlled by the chosen wielder. Tsuki had the Dark Tsukuyomi and Yamato gave me the White Tsukuyomi, but I don’t know how to summon it.” He frowned as he looked at the necklace of the wolf fang that hung around his neck. He knew that if he could summon it then he could defeat Tokoyami. Xiang sat up and realised that they were in a room within the palace. “How did we get here?” He asked and glanced in the direction that Toboe’s finger pointed in. A great big hole was in the wall in the shape of himself and he guessed that he was flicked by Tokoyami instead. “Ah... Saki?” He spoke as he tried to glance past Toboe at the girl standing in the shadows at the back of the room, he had met Saki before but he was proved wrong as the girl stepped forward and wasn’t Saki. “I’m Kamiki, Saki’s sister. You’ve never met me since my father hides me away.” She spoke as she bowed to the great warrior; the building trembled as Tokoyami screamed outside in the courtyard and climbed up the palace walls and over the city, crushing people as it went. “We have to stop that creature before it kills anymore of the innocent. Your troops have only abandoned you father because they fear this creature. You’ve got to convince them that they stand a chance if they stand together. Please, lead your people!” Toboe spoke as he picked up his sword and readied himself to fight against Tokoyami by himself. He was about to leave the room when Kamiki gripped onto his arm and pulled him to stop him from leaving. “Please, I don’t want to leave you to fight alone. I’m coming with you no matter what you say.” Kamiki spoke, her eyes gazed at Toboe and softened his heart, he nodded and she smiled with glee as she rushed past him to their room and she came out with long spear and smiled innocently. “Since when.... never mind. Let’s go.” Toboe spoke; he had never noticed the spear in their room but didn’t ask. The two of them ran down the hall and out the palace, but strained their gaze upwards as Tokoyami stared down at them. “I’ve been waiting.” The demon snarled as it’s head slammed down and bit right into the floor. Toboe and Kamiki leapt to the side to avoid the attack then ran down the left and right side of Tokoyami and attacked the legs of the mighty demon. Tokoyami lifted it’s head and snarled as the long tail smashed Toboe into the ground, it held no interest in Kamiki so ignored her pathetic attempts of causing damage. The demon loomed over Toboe and brought it’s paw down upon him, one of the long nails sank deep into Toboe’s chest. He cried out in pain and spat up blood and twitched violently. He could see images of Tsuki dying; the demon was forcing Toboe to suffer. “STOP IT!” He begged; tears rolled down his cheeks as he saw it over and over again. The necklace suddenly pulsed with energy, Toboe opened his eyes wide and they turned bright gold with a pitch black pupil. A white aura swirled wildly around him and blasted Tokoyami off him; Toboe got to his feet and his wound started to heal as well as his features changing as he started to become a demon himself. The light became brighter the more he transformed, soon he was complete. He turned towards Tokoyami and slashed it’s face wide open before getting under it and flipping it into a cluster of buildings. He let out a war howl and Xiang raced to the scene with all the troops that dared to fight back against Yamato, they couldn’t believe what they were seeing as the demons clashed. “My son... managed to summon it.” The White Tsukuyomi sank his fangs deep into Tokoyami’s throat and he thrashed his head and ripped the flesh away in a moment of violence. Tsukuyomi leapt off and panted as he stared at Tokoyami, the demon just laid there motionless and lifeless. Tsukuyomi grinned and gave out a victory howl, but his pride was short lived as a claw was thrust into his chest and the nails curled around his heart and ripped it out. The great demon fell back and faded into a white mist that was blown away upon the breeze. Toboe gasped and hit the ground hard and tumbled across the tiles and laid there, blood oozing from his chest. Kamiki whimpered in horror and ran to Toboe’s side and looked at the hole in his chest, she noticed that he was still alive but barely. She glanced up and saw Tokoyami holding the still beating heart, the very sight sickened her. Xiang stood motionless; his son had failed to defeat the demon even as a demon. What hope was there left that they could defeat such a creature of darkness and chaos? He bared his teeth and wished Tsuki was alive; if he lost his son now then he would have nothing left except the fortress and a mass of graves. He was rapidly running out of options as the demon heart started to slow in it’s rate of beat and he knew that his son’s life hung in the balance now. “Tsuki give me strength.” He whispered, his plea was suddenly answered as two spirits erupted from the maw of Tokoyami. One was a Black Tsukuyomi and the other was a red wolf. The two spirits landed gracefully near Xiang, they were just mere ghosts but Xiang immediately recognised them. He thought back to the helmets that Tsuki and Kenshi once wore and knew that the spirits were the guardians of the fallen warriors. The Tsukuyomi was first to attack and it struck the side of Tokoyami’s out-stretched claw and bit down and tore out a chunk of flesh before leaping away for Kenshi to do the same. The flesh they tore out of Tokoyami melted and fell from their jaws as black slime as the demonic body could not survive outside of the range of the Heart which would be Yamato. The body parts needed to be connected for the flesh to function which gave Xiang an idea. Xiang signalled for the Tsukuyomi to come to him and he climbed onto the spirit and leaned in close to the creature’s ear. “Take me on the shoulder of Tokoyami; I’m going to free that heart.” He explained, the Tsukuyomi nodded and bounded across the ground and leapt upwards and glided through the air and ran all over Tokoyami to confuse the creature before setting Xiang on it’s shoulder and continued to run all over it to distract it from the officer. Xiang drew his sword and focused his energy into the silver steel; the blade shimmered and vibrated with energy. “I will defeat you and free my son!” He cried out as he brought his sword down upon the shoulder and shattered the bone and tore the skin. Tokoyami shrieked in pain and it’s arm came away from the body, releasing the heart that it held. The heart shone brightly and transformed into a small White Tsukuyomi that was no larger than a common wolf and it sprinted over to Toboe and became a spirit and flowed into the gaping hole in Toboe’s chest. The wound healed and Toboe coughed violently but was fine. Kamiki smiled softly and hugged him tightly and cried with joy. “I thought I had lost you.” She whined and Toboe wiped her tears away tenderly. “Nothing can stop me.” He chuckled and then looked at the demon arm as it hissed and melted until only the bone was left but even that started to ooze and bubble as the air seemly burned it on contact. Tokoyami snarled and managed to grab the Tsukuyomi and slam it into the ground and pin it there. The red wolf snarled and leapt at Tokoyami only to be met by the large black tail that sent the spirit crashing into the palace walls. Xiang tried to slice at Tokoyami’s throat but the skin itself seemed to reach out and absorb him. “I will not be defeated by mortals!” Tokoyami roared as Xiang became stuck in the fur and skin and his blade was swallowed up by the neck flesh. The wounds on Tokoyami started to heal and the arm regenerated in a matter of minutes. “You cannot win; I am the ultimate creature to ever walk this earth!” He yelled and sent Xiang into a mad rage. “First you take my land then you take my son, now you’re trying to claim yourself more powerful than me?! You’ve just drawn the line!” Xiang shouted and used his hands to rip the flesh that was forming around his legs and freed himself and leapt off of Tokoyami to fetch the spear from Kamiki as she offered it to him. “I’ll destroy you here and now!” He roared and launched himself as the over-confident demon and drove the spear deep into the gut of the demon and let it scream in pain but Tokoyami did not beg or give in but instead grabbed Xiang and held him up high and started to squeeze him. “You’re nothing but a mere insect compared to me. I’ll be kind and I’ll give you one last chance to prove yourself to me.” The demon mocked and threw Xiang at Toboe, hitting the boy and badly injuring him and Xiang in the process. Kamiki stood in horror as she gazed at the two men as they laid there and bled, tears fell from his hazel eyes as she stared at the battered bodies and then looked to the two spirits who were badly wounded and close to disappearing back to the spirit realm forever. “No more! Please, no more killing! I beg of you!” Kamiki screamed and took the attention of Tokoyami. The demon leaned in close and it’s face was just mere inches from her own. “You want this to end? Do you have anything that would make me want to stop this chaos?” Tokoyami grinned; the great lips pulling back to show the immense fangs that showed Kamiki’s reflection, the girl whimpered in fear and frowned. She had nothing that would prove useful to a demon so came up with another course of action. “Great Tokoyami, would you honour me with a duel?” She requested but it sent Tokoyami into hysterics. “You, fight me in a duel? How laughable! But I accept anyways. If I win I get this entire land but if I lose I will leave these lands and never return.” Tokoyami grinned as he roared with an echoing howl that rang out through the mountains and Kamiki accepted the terms. She took Toboe’s sword and readied herself for battle. The demon let her take the first move; Kamiki ran at the demon and used the fur to climb the demon until she was on it’s back and she stabbed the sword down into the spine in an attempt to disable the hind limbs and tail from functioning. Her tactic did work but Tokoyami twisted his head around and gobbled the girl up with only her cry to hear before it fell silent after the lump slipped down the throat to the stomach. Tokoyami howled with victory. “You were foolish my dear girl.” Toboe watched helplessly and crawled towards the demon as a lone flower floated down from the maw of the demon and landed upon the ground in front of him. Chapter Five: The Ultimate Bond Toboe watched the flower pathetically and whimpered to himself and reached out to it but it was out of reach. “Kamiki....” He sobbed only to have his father’s shadow fall upon him and the ring of Tokoyami’s laughter fill his ears. “No! She was innocent, she didn’t deserve to die!” He wailed but Xiang grabbed the back of his neck and forced him to his feet. “Weep for her later, we need to defeat that demon now...” Xiang spoke but he fell silent as a strange rumbling sound came from Tokoyami and the demon showed great discomfort. The demon stood on it’s hide legs like a man and clutched at it’s stomach and cried and screamed in pain and blood spilled forth from it’s maw. “What is this?!” He demanded but his stomach exploded and something long and white flew up into the clouds and became hidden from view. Tokoyami fell backwards and lay among the buildings and tried to hold it’s innards in as they spilled forth. The clouds swirled and soon the creature erupted from the fluffy white froth and hovered above Xia Pi. Kamiki had become a beautiful snow white dragon; it’s long elegant body shimmered in the light that penetrated through the clouds and her glistening blue eyes watched Toboe and Xiang. Her four long golden horns sat proudly upon her head and she whistled into the wind and it floated into the hearts of every spirit, man, woman and child as a glorious song of the Gods. Both Toboe and Xiang felt re-energised by the dragon’s song. Kamiki swooped down and sank her claws into Tokoyami and swirled around him until she was in the right position then she tightened herself around the demon and like a snake with a rabbit she constricted the demon. Tokoyami shrieked and tried to escape but Kamiki proved stronger as she continued to crush it. Toboe stared in awe as his girlfriend defeated the great demon. “She’s... a God.” He whispered, her beautiful white scales and her long heavenly whiskers made him sigh in amazement as he watched the great dragon steal the life from Tokoyami in a slow and painful manner. Tokoyami cried out and tried to escape the binding wrap of Kamiki but he couldn’t escape. He was beginning to give up but suddenly his mind whizzed and a smirk creased his lips. “Gods and demons never meet for a reason, we have different energy flows. My negative spirit is far greater than the positive power that you give out.” He snarled, he closed his eyes and locked his mind from his own body and concentrated very hard upon releasing the sealed energy within Yamato. It wasn’t long until sparks of black lightning burst out of Tokoyami and ripped through Kamiki’s beautiful body. Toboe watched in horror as yet again the demon over-whelmed them. “NO! Kamiki!” He yelled and he tried to run towards the fight but Xiang grabbed Toboe and pulled him back. “It’s useless, you’ll be killed. Don’t throw your life away!” Xiang shouted as he pushed Toboe into the ground in order to prevent him from leaping into the conflict. Kamiki’s shrieks echoed through the streets and soon died away as the mighty dragon uncurled from her death grip and fell helplessly to the ground and laid in her own pool of blood. Her energy had been taken and the great god transformed back into the mortal human once again. Kamiki whimpered and ran her fingers over the open wounds and looked at the blood on her hands. She had never been in so much pain; she scrambled to her feet and staggered over to Xiang and Toboe. Xiang released Toboe and let the boy run over to the wounded girl; Toboe caught Kamiki as she keeled over and held her softly in his arms, his tears blissfully fell upon her delicate skin and her hazel eyes looked up at him and begged him to end her suffering. Toboe could only look away from her pitiful eyes and weep, he could never forgive Yamato. “I’m going to end this.” He whispered as his lips carefully touched Kamiki’s. “Love is the best remedy to a broken heart, remember that and never forget it.”A low rumbling growl vibrated through the ground and walls; it was full of anger but held hope. Toboe and Kamiki glowed brightly, bathed in a white light that seemed to extend out to Xiang, Dark Tsukuyomi and the Red Wolf. Xiang looked at his hands and he started to shake slightly through excitement as a strange surge of energy flowed through his body. “Alone we fell, together we can defeat him.” He whispered and walked over to Toboe with the two spirits swiftly joining them. The light swallowed the five of them and swirled violently around them, mixing the hopes and dreams of each person and generated something completely new. The sphere of light rose up into the sky and the clouds spiralled down upon them and gave the sphere life. The light stretched out and created two great wings that cast a shadow over the fortress; the body of a Tsukuyomi appeared but it was much larger than any recorded. The mighty head was held up high and the great silver horns beared diamonds and on the end of each hung a parchment of Holy Scripture. A huge collar of beads was around the neck and on the largest bead was the Japanese kanji symbol for ‘Heaven’. The eyes opened and shone brightly and pierced the dark storm clouds that hovered above the creature. Tokoyami cowered at the sight of the creature and turned tail to flee, fearing that the entity would destroy him. The creature turned it’s head as it saw Tokoyami fleeing; the wings spread out and the God swept down and clamped it’s jaws around Tokoyami and tore the demon to ribbons and continued the violent attacks each time Tokoyami regenerated until the demon had no energy left to repair itself. “Im... poss... ible...” Tokoyami spat as the darkness that created him was taken up by the wind and disappear leaving Yamato standing in fear before the great creature. “Honour me by saying what you are?” He hissed as he glared the creature in the eye. “I am everything; I am love and hate, life and death. You are nothing.” The voice was light and was neither male nor female; the creature opened it’s maw and swallowed Yamato whole. The people emerged from their homes and hiding places to gaze upon the immense creature that hung over the fortress. The entity let out a powerful howl and cast the clouds away leaving a beautiful sunset, the scene looked like a painting with the mountains rising high into the sky with the reds, yellows and blacks smearing the once empty blue space. Many of the people sobbed for the dead but yet they held joy in their hearts with the fall of a terrible tyrant. The great creature fell from the sky and faded before it could even touch a single building. The people waited anxiously for the great warriors to reappear, but they didn’t. The year passed and Cao Pi waited and waited; no word had come from his oath brother and he was swiftly losing hope of ever seeing his friend ever again. Masa was sat among the nobles who waited for orders from their Lord, but like everyone in Xu Chang they held great doubt of hearing news from friends in Xia Pi. Everyone who had travelled there never returned and soon Cao Pi gave up. Saki watched from a corridor and let tears glide down her face as she wept for Kamiki. “I never told her that I forgive her... I should be the one who is dead, not her.” She whimpered as she fled down the corridor and out the palace. She ran to the stables to took her favourite horse, Star Flare, and rode out for Xia Pi. The day passed and she was just coming upon the borders but as her horse reached the tip of the highest ridge she was over-whelmed by the sight. The sky above Xia Pi fortress glowed brightly and seemed like it was a fairy tale. Saki couldn’t wait any longer and forced her steed to ride onwards. She reached the fortress at day break and she rode through the streets. No one was in sight, the place was abandoned and every trace of the destruction had been wiped. Saki could feel tears filling her eyes again and she let out a cry of emotional sorrow. “Kamiki, I’m so sorry! I forgive you and... and... I LOVE YOU!” She cried out, the light shimmered and seemed to fall upon the fortress, ghosts of people started to appear in the light and soon all the people of the town was back. Saki’s eyes widened and she rode off to the palace where of course Xiang, Toboe and Kamiki stood upon the steps. Saki cried out and leapt from her horse. “Kamiki!” She yelled and hugged her sister, holding her tightly and she wept upon her shoulder. Kamiki, much like everyone else, blinked in confusion, they had no idea that they had been swallowed by the light and frozen in time by the sheer power of the creature that had fallen from the sky. Toboe turned to the sisters and whimpered softly and hugged them both. Xiang sighed and went to his room within the palace. Xiang stood at the balcony and watched as Xia Pi slowly filled with hope and life, Cao Pi had been relieved to hear the first news from the fortress and soon things were going back to normal. Xiang turned his head and noticed the Dark Tsukuyomi spirit sitting there, watching him in silence. “I’m guessing Tsuki sent you to protect me? I guess not even death can stop her.” He chuckled as he glanced away, but when he looked back to the spirit he was shocked to see Tsuki standing there smiling at him. He couldn’t help but stare at her, wondering if he was dreaming but he started to stagger towards her and reached out to touch her but his hand fell through her spirit form. “Tsuki... you came back.” He whispered as he tried to kiss her but he couldn’t but he didn’t care, at least she could know that he wanted to. Tsuki smiled and looked at him but she soon frowned as a cold wind blew past them. “Xiang, I’m sorry but I must leave now.” She spoke, Xiang tilted his head. “You can come back, right?” He begged through his question but Tsuki shook her head. “Please... don’t go! Tsuki I love you, please don’t leave me!” He shouted as Tsuki started to fade, she was lucky enough to appear in the first place but she knew that she could never return to him. “I love you too, Xiang.” Her voice echoed as she became nothing, leaving Xiang to weep in pain at losing her again. Toboe had managed to organise a truce between the sisters and planned on marrying both of them. Everyone was happy and free except the sadness that filled Xiang’s heart. Each day he prayed to a beautiful sakura tree that he had planted in the centre of the courtyard of the palace of Xia Pi, he believed that he could speak to Tsuki through the tree. One day when he was praying something different happened, a lone black wolf puppy laid at the base of the tree. Xiang carefully reached for it and held it in his arms, it opened it’s little eyes and Xiang was shocked to see that they were emerald green. The wolf turned out to be female so earned the name of Tsuki, Xiang believed that his wife had been reborn and would continue to protect him along with Skye until the end of his days. The End
