This should explain to you exactly how these battles work, so there will be no problems unless you lose
The battle starts with an information thread on the region made by the battle mod for that battle. It should include all the important information, such as who is invading, the map of the area and so on.
The leaders of both forces (or their prime ministers) have one week to post their troops for the area, which means a list of the troop types they are using, who is leading them and how many of each type their is. Their can be only the same number of men involved as their is in that region. For example- Wei invades Han Zhong with 10, 000 men, and they have the generals Xiu Lao and Tsuki in it.
The force leader has a week to post it, and they set out their men like this;
Wei Army
Troop = 10,000 + Siege
Commanders
Xiu Lao, Tsuki
Solders
2000 Light swordsmen
2000 Light spearmen
1000 Light cavalry
1000 Archers
2000 Axemen
500 Phalanx spearmen
500 Great swords
500 Crossbows
500 Shanqi horsemen
Siege Weapons
10 Battering Ram
150 Ladder
5 Catapult
5 ballista
500 Engineers
The other force has to do the same thing, except they also get all of the garrison troops in the region. To see this look in The RP discussions area, under city information. Any troops in the region that you did not mention can arrive later as reinforcements.
Reinforcements are troops arriving from a friendly region that has a border with the region under attack, and they will take 1 turn to arrive.
Then the battle begins in a new thread, and in their first post the leader of the force in that region (The leader of the army, not just the force overall) For example, if Zhing Yan is leader of Shu, but Yue Ying is leader of the army in the region, then she posts this
The troops that have been given out by the leader, and who they are working for. As well as her first post. Most people have an introduction as their first post, but you can still do stuff in it if you want to.
Then the normal battling begins. One thing you need to remember is that the map for the battle is updated every turn, but if you move but do not say where how can they move you? Be very specific where you are moving, like saying you are moving towards a landmark, or even just moving north/east/south/west. Unless you want to move at a certain speed (and you have to mention that) the mod will move you at your maximum speed.
The actually battling is very simple, you can pretty much do whatever you want, and then the battle mod will say what happens on the update (which is at the end of a turn). Remember to think things through here. You can even say you jump of a cliff and fly to somewhere, but don’t be shocked when the mod says you fall and break most of your bones.
At the end of a turn everything is updated and the mod decides what happens overall. The battle moderators have been picked not only because they are trusted and all, but because they understand battles. If you disagree with them then say so in the OCC thread, but please at least make a sensible argument first.
To do a strategy, PM the battle mod and tell them about it, and they will say what happens. This avoids the fact that everyone can see what you are doing. For greater explanation of the actual fighting, read the battle guide in RP discussions.
The battle ends when the enemy force is gone, either all killed or retreated. Then you can go back and its all over (though if the invaders win then they get the region)
If you have any questions on any of this, PM and battle mod (Lu Xiang, Gongsun Zan and Tsuki) and we should be able to explain or answer anything that is battle related.
