Stands at about 6"4, fairly light build. His hair is a dark grey and he has dark tanned skin. His eyes are different colours with his left being light blue and his right eye being a dark hazel. His hair is fairly long and sits beneath a custom made hat as a mark of his identity among the people.
Personality:
Rui has a fairly positive out-look upon life most of the time but certain things can spark negative attitudes. He often saves his depression for when he is alone and hides it from everyone around him. He is the silent suffering type and will even hide the pain from battle wounds. He loves the attention of men though he isn't the type to pass up a fine looking woman if he got the chance though he'd much rather have the more powerful male to be his lover. He is very possessive at times and can even be annoying in various situations. He can be quite stubborn at times and can be quite cheeky towards other people. Though he is loyal to his master or lover and would do anything to protect them. Rui tends to keep a level head and tries to further his own intelligence in battle.
Weapon:
Rui uses a long sword as his primary weapon of choice. It's blade is very long for maximum distance of reach possible without over-balancing the blade itself.
Weapon Strengths: Great reach capabilities, blade down each edge of the sword so causes lots of damage.
Weapon Weaknesses: Difficult to use in tight spaces
Armour:
Rui wears a metal chest plate beneath his outer clothing to protect his chest area from serious damage. He also wears metal plating over the upper thighs, once again it is hidden by his clothes. He does wear lighter leather armour on his arms and on his lower legs.
History:
Rui was a child of a pirate family, his family was small but a dangerous force when in the water. Their ship was well known for striking down even the most advanced of vessels that dared to enter its territory. Rui grew up quick and had to learn fast to keep up with the family background and lifestyle.
At aged eight he was struck by a collapsing mast which left him suffering from epilepsy for the rest of his life. It greatly hindered his use as a pirate at sea. He was abandoned by his family except by his younger brother, Kenshi. They soon gained a boat and started to travel across the waters by China and into foreign lands to seek medicine to help Rui's condition. Eventually he found a herb in the area of the South of China that helped to calm his seizures to a mild manner and even reduced them to once a month rather than almost five times a week.
Rui was finally able to set sail as a proud pirate but he spent most of his time offering help to trading companies and merchants to help deliver supplies whilst also sending other pirates and bandits packing. This helped Rui and Kenshi make a lot of money and even earned them bragging rights since they were unstoppable and were able to defeat the criminals of the sea.
He was soon known as the Yokai of the ocean, he was feared by many. He still had a heart of gold despite his dark life.
Other details:
Rui has a small monkey to help him pick-pocket from people. The monkey is called Tsu. The monkey also provides an early warning for on-coming seizures that Rui might have. The monkey can sense changes in Rui's body before the seizure happens which gives him enough time to prepare for it.
