Name: Cheng Pu (Demou)
Age: 30
Residence: Fu Chun, Wu, Yang Province, Jiangdong
Appearance:
Cheng Pu stands at 5'7", not of the tall stature. He has a comparatively small frame, but a firm and muscular build. He has a tanned complexion from his many years out in the sun, and a scar-less face that suits one his age. Demou prefers to grow a beard, which he keeps at a certain length, not too long but not too short either.
Personallity: Cheng Pu is a kind and generous man, and is not a loud-mouthed one either. Although he will speak when needed, he mostly solves any problems through his own silent concerns. But even though he is a quiet and gentle one in general, during battle he is a ferocious warrior, sparing no mercy for those who stand against him. However, he will consider the option of negotiation, and will tend to spare the lives of those who surrender in battle. Although being a fighter, Demou also has a talent for strategy, though he will not take pride in any ability he has.
Weapon: Serpent Spear
Cheng Pu's Serpent Spear is a polearm very similar to a spear. The only significant difference is the blade, or tip, which is larger than most spears and is shaped in a very squiggled shape, the form resembling a snake gliding along the ground. The end of the blade is split into two prongs. The only decoration placed on the weapon is a bronze piece used to joint the blade and wooden shaft together, and a bundle of scarlet thread beneath it.
Weapon Strengths: The Serpent Spear can be used effectively for both impaling like a spear or slashing with both sides of a blade like a sword, along with being able to hit with the blunt end. Being a polearm, it has quite a long range for attacking, and the weapon itself isn't heavy at all, especially with Cheng Pu being adapted to it for a long time. It also has much more power than short weapons such as swords.
Weapon Weaknesses: The Serpent Spear does have its weaknesses. Although it has long range, a polearm isn't as effective when in a really tight situation, as it requires space to maneuver. As well, it can sometimes get in the way when attempting to run fast, and slows one down compared to light weapons.
Armour: Cheng Pu dons a full set of plate armor, the plates consisting of the chest and back, shoulders, elbows, thighs, and knees. Meanwhile, the rest of the body including the limbs below the joints are only clothed with black undergarment clothing, for little protection but enough to provide speed and maneuverability. A yellow cape in draped back down from Demou's armor, tied up in the front. Demou also wears a helmet upon his head, a simply designed piece of armor made in the same tone as the plates. The only decoration of the helmet would be the blue bundle of thread to the top rear.
History: Cheng Pu, styled Demou, was a man from Tuyin in Youbeiping. Born of an average family, he was raised during the age when the Han dynasty started to crumble from within. From a young age, he was well trained in the martial arts instead of the scholarly ways that many chose to follow, for he wished to join the Han army when he found fit. He was known among the locals as a master of the spear, and he himself selected a snake headed spear for his weapon. As a youth, he was said to be a handsome lad, and he married quite early, when he neared 17, to one of the townswomen. Their marriage resulted in a single child, a son named Cheng Zi.
Many years passed in solitude, and Demou earned a common living, being able to feed himself and his family. All the while, he continuously trained in his battle skills, waiting for a time when the army was in desperate need of soldiers. And the time came when Demou was in his forties, as the Yellow Turban Rebellion broke out all over the land, bandits rising everywhere. A well-known young local by the name of Sun Jian put up signs in order to recruit soldiers willing to follow his cause in fighting the rebels. Demou immediately signed up for the army and followed Sun Jian into battle.
It wasn't long before Sun Jian recognized both Demou's skill and reputation, and placed him among the higher ranks of his personal army, along with several others. It was here that Demou befriended many of Jian's generals, such as Huang Gai, Han Dang, and Zu Mao. Under the leadership of Sun Jian, Demou now prepares himself for further battles against the Yellow Turbans.
