Quest: We Need You
Location: Lou Yang
Location: Lou Yang
Rui stood in the city centre upon a wooden crate. He had received word that the people were beginning to waver in their loyalty to the Han. Rui was a hired pirate but he also despised the Yellow Turbans since they were ruining the trade at the docks. This outraged Rui and caused him to take action on his own accord. His brother stood on the ground next to him since he didn’t really require a box to stand on since he was noticeable enough without it. “People of Lou Yang! Why has your loyalty left the Han? Do you think those Yellow Turban twits can offer a better life?” Rui shouted loudly as he tried to attract the people’s attention towards him. He sighed seeing only a few had stopped to stare.
“Please! Heed my words, the Yellow Turbans will cause trade to close and make your families starve! They will cost the farmers money because they will prevent you from selling your crops at the markets! Medicines? They’ll not allow that, your children will grow sick and they will die young. You will all suffer if they defeat the Han. You can stop the Han from falling if you just stand your ground against the traitors of China!” Rui cried out, he tried to be convincing and reach out to the workers and peasants the most. “I may be just a pirate, but even I will fight to the very last stand to protect my home. I work for the Han and I live for the peace, I’m one of the men who work my hands to the bone to help merchants and farmers carry out the trading routes along the rivers and out to the seas.”
“I stand here before you begging you to not lose faith in your true Lord! I can promise peace and safety for everyone if you just deny these intruders who will take your women and kill your children. They will drive you away and enslave you all without pay, they will become greedy and they will burn your homes and fields for their own pleasures!” Rui spoke as he turned up the heat upon his speech, he needed to turn the people to join the Han once again.
Kenshi tapped his brother on the shoulder before having Rui step off the box and soon Kenshi stood on it instead. “Please, don’t let these bullies steal your souls and honour. If you do then you will be nothing in the eyes of everyone around you. Rui and I aim to take down the enemies who dare to threaten your safety. Though we do need help, if you care for your home and your families then please join us and show that you care about your futures. This isn’t about individuals anymore, this is about everyone. You are all part of this, are you just going to walk away from the Han and sell yourselves to people who are clearly blinded by their own madness? May the Gods have mercy on your souls then, but please, heed our words and don’t ignore them.” Kenshi spoke, his voice calm yet yearning and probably possessed a better chance at gathering the crowds compared to Rui’s wild nature.
Rui grinned as his brother spoke. He grabbed onto the side of Kenshi and pulled himself up onto the crate and pumped his fist into the air. “Hail the Han! Save the People!” He cheered loudly and soon Kenshi joined in with the cheer and they hoped that the people around them would join it.
