Most of the upper body is heavy enough Armour to stop most blows and arrow volleys. From the elbow to the shoulder, there is very light Armour in that zone to keep freedom of movement against or for attacks to come. A slash, stab, or arrow is able to pierce or rip through the Armour and clothing, depending on where you hit. From a little below the waist and down, is a combination of medium and light Armour.
