soo.... i got the idea of training n wanted to see wht i could do.. this is what it came out to be. i think im pretty good, end is sorta bad, but hey, lol.
the sound of feet hitting hard dirt echoed in the air. dirt filled the air, causing those around the area to cough. Poles stood up from the ground around the area. About half of them had Wu flags on them, waving in the early wind/breeze. I was hot for the early morning, not a big surprise though. Most around the area were men. There were some females, howevter. Among them were Lady Da Qiao.
She stood there, hair falling free with a mini tiara in her hair, neat clothes with specks of dirt on it. Her golden eyes shinned in the morning light as she watched the two fighters attack, move and deflect. A small smile touched her porcelain face, watching her sister-in-law train. Sun Yelena, was going to fall for it. Again.
Yelena raised Serviable Arc barely in time to block the attack from her friend. She could feel the sweat dripping down her face as she tightened her grip. 'Crap,' she thought to herself. Katsu had more experience fighting, was amazing with a spear and was at least five years older than her. Something was off though. She couldn't exactly place it, but she knew something was wrong. Then he stopped applying pressure with his spear in the deadlock.
She felt herself fall forward and curse as the blunt end of his spear swept her feet from under her so she had no choice but to fall. Yelena let go of her bow to protect her head. Big mistake. She squeezed her eyes shut, bracing herself for the impact as she hit the ground hard. She coughed and rolled over on her back, ignoring her aching muscles. She opened her eyes and tried to see through the cloud of dirt that was around her. Blinking a few times, she sighed mentally to herself. 'He always does this to me. Why do i fall for it every damn time?' Yelena thought to herself. Three times in a row. Three damn times.
She opened her eyes and as expected, saw the tip of his spear pointed at her heart, maybe an inch away. "Concede princess?" The mocking tone in his voice made her roll her eyes but grin. "Yeah, yeah. You're killing me here." Yelena replied with a smile that made him remove his spear and hold out a hand. She was half tempted to spit on it. It would be childish, but she wanted to sulk in her defeat. It was embarrassing to lose, once again, in front of Wu troops.
Instead, she pushed away her pride and took his hand, sighing as he helped pull her up. She looked down at her dirty clothes and raised her eyes to meet Katsu's. "Well.. You're name suits you. Victory... Soon we're going to have to change your name to Manabu. Learn from me." Yelena winked and rubbed her arms. Okay. This was painful. After this, she was stripping out of her clothes and taking a dip in the river. At night though. So no one would be able to see.
She spread out her legs, bent down and put both hands on her thighs that were spread, stretching out her muscles that screamed no. She looked at Katsu who held Serviable Arc in his hand. "Rematch?" Yelena asked, taking her bow and tossing it in the arrow and catching it behind her back. "You're ready to lose so soon? I'll let you get some water."
Yelena rolled her eyes as Katsu turned away from her. She sighed and looked at Da. She shrugged at Da's raised eyes. Walking over to her, she ignored the pain in her ankle from landing the wrong way an hour ago, tossing her bow to the ground. She took the water Da offered and drank it down in one gulp, wiping away the drops that spilled over her chin.
"Yelena... You are the farthest away from being a lady, and i mean it with love." Da Qiao said to her, shaking her head. Yelena laughed, tossing back her head. Her black hair had come out of her bun and now fell down, dirt in it. She looked down at herself. She wasn't wearing armor, she didn't bother trying to put it on when she had gotten up. Yelena wore simple sandals that had emeralds ad rubies on them. She wore a pair of shorts that didn't even go to mid-thigh, red with gold trim. She wore an emerald and red top, that wrapped was v-neck exposing the curve of her breasts. it stopped, exposing her shoulders and covering her back and stopped at the back of her knees in the back. In the front, it buttoned down, stopping about two inches under her breasts, to show her tattoos and belly button piercing.
She ran a hand over her stomach and ribs, wincing. Katsu had hit her quite a few times in the ribs. She was going to have bruises. "Cold water will stop the pain, or most of it." Yelena rolled her eyes, knowing Da was watching her. "Hey, at least the ivy tattoos will have some black and blue instead of only green." Her grin was wide, especially upon seeing Da look toward the sky.
Yelena slowly began to braid her hair, then wrapped most of it in a bun, securing it with a comb that Da just managed to have. It was weird how Da looked out for her. She rolled her shoulders n then rolled her neck from side to side, getting used to her hair being in the bun.
She leaned down to pick up her bow and groaned. Great. "don't you have something more important to do than watch me get beaten, again?" She said to Da who just smiled. What was the smile supposed to mean. Her forehead wrinkled as she turned away from Da and looked at katsu who was already in position. Forcing a cocky smile, she slowly spread her legs apart. Her left foot slipped in front of her right, and her weigh went to the balls of her feet. "You're move," Yelena said calmly, positioning Serviable Arc behind her back, slanted in her right hand.
Katsu moved toward her quickly and grinned an overly confident grin, doing the same move he had done the past three times. He slid, stopped and brought the blunt end of his spear to her ribs. She forced herself to take the hit, refusing to wince. She brought her leg up, a swipe at his face, something she hadn't done before. It was a tiny bit slow, but he got took the hit without a word. His eyes gleamed with the knowledge she wasn't going to do what she had done before. Oh great.
"Is that all you got, princess? Should we stop now to let you go sit on your throne?" He knew exactly what to say to set her off. She swung with her bow, intending to hit him in the ribs. He, however, moved out of the way and very carefully to make sure he didn't cut too deep he used the tip of his weapon to make a mark down her left arm, from her elbow to her shoulder.
Yelena ignored the sting of pain and in her mind yelled at herself. Stupid her. Of course, he was fast and his weapon had a longer range of attack. She knew this. Yet she had responded to his taunt. And in battle, that could have gotten her killed. She took a deep breath and pushed the pain to the back of her mind. She raised her eyebrows at Katsu. "That all you got? No wonder why you're a craftsman. Couldn't get in the army?"
She knew just how to set him off. He swung at her with his weapon as if it was a bow, not a spear. She blocked it, and twirled away so she wouldn't be stuck in a deadlock. Yelena swept her bow under his feet and watched as he did a black flip so he wouldn't fall. Nice. She flashed him a smile and her eyes twinkled with mischief and delight. He laughed and before she could think of what he was going to do, he got low, and swung at her feet. Barely jumping up in time she did an akido roll to avoid the next swing from Katsu. She rolled on her arm and ignored the pain that went through as the dirt mixed with her blood.
Katsu had gotten up. Yelena slid to the ground, feeling a burning sensation in her thigh as she slid in the dirt, kicking out to hit his ankle. His weak ankle. After months of training with him, she knew quite a few things about. He was distracted with her sliding attack, and as she raised herself to one knee, she swung Serviable Arc to the back oh his knee, hearing his grunt of pain as he fell down.
She moved to her feet, confident he wouldn't be getting up. Yelena stepped over him, legs spread wide. She slowly lowered herself so she sat on his chest, and reached to her thigh and grabbed a knife. She made a cut from his left elbow to shoulder and smiled. "Now we match. Concede?" Sun Yelena asked, moving the knife that had his blood on it to his neck.
"Yes." The word was a gasp.
Yelena grinned and laughed softly, rolling off of Katsu. Laying next to him, she squinted at the sun. "I think... You need to watch out and learn not to respond to taunts..."Her voices was teasing, but a part of her inside was dead serious about it. It'd be hard to lose such a close friend, for a stupid mistake. In battle, a mistake could kill you or your troops.
~~~~~Three Days Later~~~~~
Yelena squinted at the ceiling in her room and sighed. She needed to go back to sleep. She had spent the night training with Katsu, most of her time she was wasting training. She ran her right hand over her left arm, elbow up. It was wrapped but still hurt at pressure. She was covered in bruises, many of them. Her thighs and ribs had the most. She had them on her back too.
She groaned and ran her fingers over her silky blankets. She pushed her head deeper into her pillows, and sighed. Yelena had to get up. Before Da came in and found her a mess. Da. Her eyes widened and a few curses came out of her mouth. Da had wanted to do something with her. And there was no way she was going to go shopping. She itched to get in a fight, despite her sore and aching body.
She forced herself out of bed, went over to the bowl of water and splashed her face. About two hours of sleep. Great. She slipped into a training outfit similar to the ones she had been wearing for the past few days. Just this time is was gold, pink and red. No green. She twisted her hair up, letting most of it fall down like a waterfall of silky black. She kept it in place with hair clips. She glanced at her bow and picked it up with her quiver. Then almost forgetting, she slipped a knife in the leather strap on her thigh.
Yelena walked out of her room from the servants exit. Within ten minutes, she was out of the palace. She could go either into the city center or into the forests. she chose forests.
By the time the hour was over, she was resting in a tree in the forest. She notched an arrow and aimed at a certain mark in a tree. So, it was a tiny bit hard to keep her balance. But, she loved being up here. Nothing could touch her. Nothing except... Her eyes narrowed at the site of a tiger. She felt a smile slowly creep it's way onto her face.
Tigers were like a member of the family. She, as a child, had learned how to tame them for a certain amount of time. Beast masters knew how to use them in battle. But it was a tiger cub. What harm could come. She slowly moved from where she was, dropping to the ground in a crouch. She moved over to the berry bush that was near the tree, and took a few berries, knowing she'd regret getting her hands dirty. She held her palm out. Tigers didn't attack people much. She smiled as the tiger moved over to her and slowly began to eat out of the palm of her hand.
Sun Yelena heard a noise and looked to see Katsu leaning against a tree. He had a bo staff with him. "Well i see why you're called the Tiger Princess. But can you win in a fight?" She grinned at the challenge that was obvious in his voice. "Want to lose so soon, child?" She responded softly, her eyes sparkling with the thought of fighting him.
"Ah, don't get too cocky, dear." Katsu's grin made his face look boyish and as Yelena stood up, watching the baby tiger scurry away. She removed her quiver and held her bow. "Best two out of three." She said, sliding into a fighting stance.
-three hours later-
"Rematch?" Katsu said, staring at Yelena's bow that was at his neck. Yelena had a grin on her face. "Of course. What is it this time? Best out of 17?" Her laughter filled the air as she removed her bow from his neck and watched as he got to his feet and swung. She ducked, everything seeming to fade.
