Chen Liu. There are many names that could be used to describe that place. Some include beautiful, majestic, honorable, though to Zhi Fang, it is recognized by the name "Home." Zhi Fang was born and raised at a village very close to the city. He made frequent visits ti Chen Liu and every time he was amazed by all the things he saw there. To Zhi, it was the most beautiful thing in the world. Then everything took a turn for the worst.
Corruption was attacking the Han everyday. Han official's were taking money from the people that the people needed desperately. The people were becoming enraged by the selfish way of the Han. They wanted a savior, a person or group that could bring them the peace and tranquility they wanted and deserved. That was when the Yellow Turbans came into play.
The Yellow Turbans followed the Way of Peace and they believed that the Way of Peace was the thing that the people wanted. The Yellow Turbans believed they were chosen by God to destroy the Han, the evil that was plaguing the land. Led by Zhang Jue and his two brothers Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang, the Yellow Turbans gained many followers that would risk their lives to see China in a era of peace. For a long time, the Yellow Turbans ransacked villages without any resistance. It was time for the Han to take action against these rebellious scum.
Many regional lords answered the call to arms, some people included the Tiger of Jiang Dong, Sun Jian. Another man was The Hero of Chaos, Cao Cao. They striked back at the Turbans quickly, ending up with two final battles. One was at Luo Yang, and the other Puo Yang. After long and hard battles, the Han emerged victorious and the Yellow Turbans faded away by the death of their leader Zhang Jue. There was a short time of peace. Cao Cao received control of Chen Liu as a award for his service fighting the Yellow Turbans.
Cao Cao is a man of great ambition, he will not stop until he controls all of China and brings a new era of peace. There was something about Cao Cao that Zhi Fang did not like. Maybe it was because he was a little too ambitious? No that is not it. Anyways, Zhi Fang knew that he could never follow Cao Cao's ambition. Though who could Zhi join with? Then Zhi remembered one certain man in the Coalition against the Yellow Turbans. That man was Sun Jian.
Zhi Fang did not know much about Sun Jian but there was something about Sun Jian that was different from Cao Cao. Jian wanted to bring peace to China the same as Cao Cao did, but he seemed to want to do it a different way, and for a different purpose. Zhi pondered the thought of who to join for many weeks when he decided to join Sun Jian. Though there was a little obstacle in Zhi Fang's path and that was Cao Cao.
Cao Cao came over to Zhi's village one day to look for any talented warriors that he could recruit. Now Zhi Fang was the strongest, and the best warrior in that village so Cao Cao was intrigued by this man. He found Zhi and he has accompanied by two guards. Cao asked Zhi to show him what he had and defeat his two guards. Zhi took a deep breath, and allowed for them to make the first move. They both ran at him, and Zhi did a roll that was in between both of hem. While in mid roll he tried to cut both men down but he only got one of them. Zhi's longsword connected and almost cut the soldier in half. The other guard got angry and started to swing madly at Zhi, and Zhi calmly dodged each attack waiting for an opening. After a little bit he found that opening, and he did a quick lunge with his sword at the guards gut. Bleeding out, the soldier passed out on the floor.
"What a great warrior!" Cao Cao had said to Zhi. "What do you say about joining my forces, I could use your help in making my dreams a reality." Zhi smiled and and replied, "I thank you for the compliment but I could never join you Cao. Your ambition does not match my own. I could not live with myself if I fought for something that I did not even believe in. I hope you understand. " Cao Cao did not move a muscle and replied with an angry tone to his voice, "I don't think you understand me, little peasant. You will join me or I will burn down your village and personally kill each and every one of the villagers unless you join me!!" Zhi Fang looked at Cao Cao with anger and replied, "You wouldn't dare!! If you lay a hand on any of the people here I will cut you down!! See, you don't get what you want so you try and force them to do your bidding or make you feel better inside. You make me sick! I will never join you and I will make sure that you will never make your dream a reality!!"
Cao Cao yelled at Zhi and charged him, sword drawn. Zhi did a quick roll to the side and he quickly got up and prepared his defenses. Cao Cao was a great swordsman so this wasn't going to be easy. Cao Cao came at Zhi Fang again with three viscous blows. Zhi could barely block each one. Cao Cao did a horizontal slash at Zhi's head with great speed and strength. Zhi let his knees collapse under him to dodge his attack and Zhi did a strong push with his legs towards Cao Cao. Zhi put his head down and he headbutted Cao Cao directly in the stomach. Wasting no time, Zhi ran out of the hut and yelled at the villagers, "RUN, RUN TO OUR SECRET SPOT AND DON'T LET CAO CAO FOLLOW YOU THERE!! WAIT THERE FOR AWHILE UNTIL IT IS SAFE!!" Not questioning Zhi, they quickly got a couple of items and ran towards their secret spot that was used if they needed a place to hide.
Watching the villagers escape from site and he turned towards Cao Cao, who had finally got back up and he was holding a lit torch in his hand. He threw it at a hut, and it quickly caught on fire. The fire spread to each hut. "It it time to die fool!!"yelled Cao Cao at Zhi Fang. Though Cao Cao miscalculated and he was standing under a doorway to a hut. The hut collapsed and Cao Cao screamed as the doorway and some pieces of the stone roof fell on him. Now Zhi could have left him there to die. Though Zhi was a merciful person, even after all the horrible things he had done to Zhi and the villagers. Cao Cao passed out from the pressure and from the smoke. Zhi Fang quickly used all his strength to pick up some of the rubble and he then dragged Cao Cao out of it. Zhi checked his pulse, he was still alive. With a nod and a bow, Zhi quickly ran towards his horse which was afraid of the fire. He quickly calmed the horse down and he climbed on the horses back. Zhi kicked his horse and he sped off southwards.
A fair distance away from the village, Zhi stopped to look at it. The fire was starting to go down and there was a great pillar of smoke coming from the village. "I have brought this among everybody. It is all my fault that all my friends are now without a home. I can never live this shame down." said a very sad Zhi Fang as he began to cry, one of the very few times he really cried. He slowly climbed on his horse and they began the long journey southwards to Jiang Dong, and to Zhi's new future.
