After the defeat at Lou Yang some yellow turbans lost faith and defected to various warlords are the land. The ones that defected to Yuan Shao in Nan Pi gave him a tip off the there was a supply depot in Ping Yuan. Unable to pass up on a golden opportunity Yuan Shao went to the depot.
Some days later they arrived outside of the camp, it was dark and Yuan had brought all his cavalry and some spear and swords men. There was a small cliff above the Depot which was had no soldiers patrolling it, Yuan Shao stationed his archers up there in preparation for a fire attack. Yuan Shao had men with drums as well to spread fear into the ranks of the defenders. He had his cavalry wear masks to lower their morale further.
Yuan Shao waited for the right moment, they were stationed in the woods 100 yards from depot, the archers gave a signal that the base was lightly guarded at this time of night and Shao gave the signal for the fire attack. The archers rained down flaming arrows into the base, the base was up in flames but most of the supplies were untouched, the main targets were the garrison tents and the generals tent, but some supplies caught fire. With the base on fire the troops were disorientated, mass confusion spread through the camp. Friendly fire kills happened within the camp out of the sheer confusion, men running around in the middle of the night with the camp on fire, it was difficult to tell who was on whose side.
The sound of the arrows died out and was replaced with screams and shouts from within the camp then suddenly out in the distance drum beats could be heard getting louder and louder as time went on, then the should of hooves hitting the floor joined in. Louder and louder they both got. The cavalry made it to the camps where the sound of sword clashing, screaming and the flesh being ripped from a man was being joined with arrow fire once again and this time the sound of footsteps. The spear and swordsmen had joined the assault. All men were wearing these demon masks, it struck fear into the men.
After a short fight stood one man on a podium, the men of Yuan Shao had him surrounded. He was still wielding a spear, he cut three men down in one swift action that came near him. The was a ripple of lightning and then the rain started to pour down. The sea of men opened letting through one man with a unique demon mask, it was Wen Chou. He rode around the man but he was unfazed by Wen Chou's presence. The sea of men again parted but this time Yuan Shao and Yan Liang came through along with a couple of caravans. Both men wore different masks to the others, Yuan Shao and Yan Liang joined in and circled the man, still he remained still and unfazed. Yuan Shao got off of his horse and drew his sword, the man moved into an attacking stance the same with Yuan Shao. Yuan Shao moved left then right and lunged in with and attack but the man stepped back and countered but with some quick thinking and sharp reflexes Yuan Shao managed to block the attack. A couple of clashes occurred between the men, 8 attacks went by before Yuan Shao broke the spear, the man was weapon less. Yuan Shao sought to strike quickly but the man seen the attack coming and caught his arm before the blade reached his face. The man countered with a punch the the stomach and two headbutts. Yuan Shao went down and the man stood above him with Yuan's sword in hand. Yuan Shao was helpless on the floor. The man raised the sword to strike down into his chest, but some quick thinking from Yuan Shao saw him grab both pieces of the broke spear. He stabbed the end that had been snapped into the leg of the man and as he came down the the thrust into his stomach, Shao raised himself into a sitting position and stabbed the head into the throat of the man. The man fell stiffly to Yuan's left side. His men watched in amaze meant and began to clap the brilliance of Shao, Yan Liang helped him of the floor and back to his horse. During the duel supplies were being loaded on the caravans to be taken and sold in Nan Pi. There was around 1000g worth of supplies that was going to be sold. Yuan Shao had scored a victory over the yellow turbans supply depot.
