Theme
Name: Gao Xia Age: 20 Residence: Cheng Du, Yi Province, Shu; Wanderer.
Appearance:
Personality: Xia has a sort of aura about her that leaves people feeling at ease, like they can really be carefree for a bit while she's around. Xia has been known around Wu to have one of the kindest hearts in all of the Three Kingdoms but continues to remain a humble, young woman. Some have even compared her to a mother, and Xia feels like she is one sometimes. Always trying her best to be the mature one, even among other adults, always trying to be the peace maker, and always trying to keep her loved ones safe. Xia is a young woman, who was raised properly with everlasting morals and values.
She uses her manners and is hardworking in whatever she does. She tends to be a little quiet when around others, but seems to be more open around her closer comrades. Don't think of her as one of those completely silent types though, she's just simply more reserved and respectful. A few certain people can bring out the "funner" side of Xia, but Xia's not really one to cause much of a disturbance around others or call too much attention to herself.
Weapon: Japanese Odachi
Weapon Strengths: Xia's odachi makes her a great asset to any army. With her odachi's strength and range, she's often able to take out multiple enemies at a time. Such a strong weapon makes Xia an otherwise unlikely powerhouse.
Weapon Weaknesses: With such a huge weapon, one can become tired after using it so much. Along with that, odachis lack in the speed department, usually relying on brute strength rather than agility. Weapon: Japanese Tanto
Weapon Strengths: This smaller version of a katana helps make up for what Xia's odachi doesn't have; speed. It's only used for close quarter combat, where Xia's odachi wouldn't be as useful. Xia uses two matching tanto, one strapped to each hip.
Weapon Weaknesses: Being shorter, tantos are only useful when you're up close and personal with your opponent. Also, as small as it is, the tanto isn't meant to be used for guarding against larger, stronger weapons. Armour: In contrast to such a strong weapon, Xia actually wears lighter armor. Like most female warriors, Xia likes to look good while she's kicking some butt. She tends to wear extravagent robes over a decorative breast plate that matches with her hair ornaments. Under her robes is a ton of intricately placed light armor plating. Along with that she wears lightly armored bracers on her arms, and lightly armored boots fit for combat. She makes sure that she wont get hurt during battle while still looking good. Most of her armor is Japanese in style since she picked it up while in Japan.
History: Gao Xia has a long and complicated past. Most of her past is a hidden mystery, not for the people of the Three Kingdoms to know, but here is what most people believe. Gao Xia was adopted by a warrior from Cheng Du in Shu at the young age of 3. Her adoptive father, Gao Xian gave her his last name and her first name, reminiscent of his own name. Gao Xian was said to have the strength of a thousand men, and was often referred to as "The One Man Army."
Gao Xian taught most of what he knew to Xia, except for what he knew about war. He felt that war was something he wanted to keep Xia sheltered from. However, it was in Xian's household that Xia began learning swordsmanship, unlike most young women who are usually taught nothing but how to cook and clean. She began with learning only simple swordplay until she was about 12 years old. Ever since then she hadn't stopped trying to improve her combat skills.
This led her to become an 'invaluable posession,' so to speak. She was quickly recruited to join Wu's forces once she came of age and word of her got around. Although she was inexperienced in the matters of war such as strategies and the like, she was great on the battlefield. When she had joined Wu, she became close friends with Sun Yelena, becoming a sort of unofficial bodyguard of hers. She also become close friends with Shigure Burai, the sworn brother of her fiance, Hiroshi of Shu.
Hiroshi and Xia were soon to be married before they had gotten caught up in a battle where Xia went 'missing.' She didn't show up at the end of the battle, and all of the bodies were said to be burned by Wei. Xia had escaped but was caught by Wei forces, her life was threatened but spared under certain conditions. She was to be banished from China, never to serve Wu or Shu again. She was immediately escorted to Japan, not allowed to bid farewell to anyone, not even Hiro, especially not Hiro.
Apparently, they felt Xia was too much of a threat, but the Heavens had been on her side the day she was captured. Mercy was placed in the hearts of those Wei forces. While in Japan, Xia was taken in by a war general's family. When the general had learned of her skills as a warrior, it was decided that Xia would learn to use a new weapon and serve under him. This was when Xia first laid her hands on a japanese odachi.
She trained and trained, hoping to become good enough, so that next time she wouldn't be captured and banished. Xia had been 'missing' for about 8 months before she managed to return to China. Her first destination was Wu, she would find her friends first and then find Hiro.
Other Details: 5'6". 125 lbs. While in Japan, Xia was trained to use other Japanese native weapons, such as a standard katana, as well as the smaller tanto. Xia has a strong connection with animals, and can often be found feeding birds, petting horses, or other things of the like.
