((OOC: This is a domestic Quest. It's inspection... well more like elimination, but you get my point >.>))
Hunting. The word itself had many connotations. Lifen hunted bandits, she hunted murderers, she hunted down the lifeless scum that would attempt to inhabit a settlement. Slowly, the would spread like a virus, multiplying at a steady rate until it overcame the body of the settlement and made it their own. Crime was not high, but if even the smallest of pests were left to wander the streets, it would not take long before they too brought more of their companions.
It was late, but she was alert. There were no children to be concerned over, no women standing in the way and no nimble elders who would distract her. No, there was nothing but the buzzing silence and the gentle breeze that caressed her cheek. The tresses of loose hair blew out slightly behind her before gently settling back in her hair.
Yu Lifen did not intend to kill, no they deserved something far worse than death, the scum that crawled in the dark of Wu were hiding behind veils of shadows, keeping out of reach and out of sight. Lifen knew very well that they were not alert to her presence, oh but she knew where the scums nested and where their numbers would grow.
Despite the abhorrent traits they had, they were fairly intelligent for men who have only known life in the streets, but then again it was they who were even more intelligent than those who were fed by spoons of gold. The men chose to make camp on the outskirts of the settlement, and slowly they would settle in. circling the settlement before moving in and taken over. However, the foolish men didn’t know that amongst the fighters of Sun Jian, Lifen knew the tricks of bandits, for she had studied them all her life. All their tricks, all their ideals she knew very well and would use their own strengths against them and turn it into their greatest weakness. As her legs carried her forward, she did not hesitate to pull out the rope dart that she affectionately kept wrapped around her leg. Lifting her leg up and gently placing it on a large boulder, she pushed the slit of her skirt off her leg revealing the pale and smooth skin below. Slowly the rope was unwrapped and she let her leg down gently so that the men could not hear her.
Approaching a large tree she did well to hide behind it, waiting for the fire to be put off and for the men to retreat to their tents, tonight they would not stir trouble for their number was still to small, but she knew that within a fortnight the virus would multiply to such an extreme extent and she would be left to deal with a number that could possibly kill her before her job was done.
Hidden away in their tents, feeling safe not knowing that their death was a few breaths away. She crept into the first tent, quickly snapping the neck of the first man, of their leader. Retreating she slowly walked to the next, the man had not fully slept so she made quick work to silence him, his eye wide in horror as her tanto was out, the blood dripping off of her blade. His throat slashed open and the blood gushed out, but the quick movement of the blade prevented it from squirting all over, the blood oozed down covering the tent floor with crimson so deep it that it glinted much like the gemstones found on the robes of a rich warlord.
All night Lifen went around slaying the bandits one by one, sometimes the men tried to escape and alert another, but the bandits were flawed in one way, they set up tent too far from each other so their cries of terror would not be heard. Her eyes showed no remorse as some begged for their life, no these men’s hands were stained with the blood of many innocent and Lifen would take their lives without any regret.
As she came to the last one, she made sure that she gave him the opportunity to scream. No one in the settlement would hear and all his friends were already dead. Leaning down, she placed a finger gently on his lips. “And in the dead of the night, only the rotting corpses of your friends can hear and they too scream in agony, but it shall forever be unheard.” And with that did she take her tanto and stuck it deep within his chest, twisting the blade into his heart and the life in his eyes disappeared.
Standing up, she returned to the settlement, making sure to stop at the docks and clean her hands and weapons. Lifen had made sure to keep the blood from staining her clothes. Looking up at the sky she quickened her pace knowing full well it was almost dawn. Lifen stopped just outside the living accommodation of the Sun family. There, a guard stood waiting for Lifen herself. “When lord Sun Jian wakes, tell him that it is done and that men can be sent to clean up the mess.” The guard nodded and Lifen took off, she would enjoy the rest of the solidarity in the night for now she was alone and now she had prolonged the life of the settlement. The plague would not hit, and Lifen would be ready to take the lives of many more bandits if they return. For now, she would go to the docks and settle there until it was dawn and leave to her tiny home before the people of Wu would wake.
