Rasa flopped onto his bed. It was so hard he'd be more comfortable sleeping on the floor, but he was too tired to move. Eventually he became aware of someone else in the room. No one was then when he had come in, how long had he been asleep? How many times could they have killed him? For a second he lay there motionless while he counted footsteps. Just one person. They're looking for something specific. If they weren't they wouldn't be picking apart everything in the room without taking anything. It'd be better to find out what they want instead of killing them.
Quietly he flipped open the end of his scythe. Moving in one instant he sprang out of bed and threw the scythe at the door. It embedded with a loud *Thunk.* A girl jumped with a piercing scream and she tried to run out of the room. Rasa wouldn't let her. The chain attached to the embedded scythe blocked off the girl's exit, and Rasa darted across to the other side of the room, using the chain to encase his would be attacker in a circle of razor metal.
"Who are you, and why were you stealing my things?" Rasa didn't own much. In fact, other then money and his weapon the most expensive thing he owned was the clothes still on his back. That reminded him of the last time he had bathed, two, or was it three, weeks ago.
The girl, and she was no more then a girl of perhaps eleven, started to bawl. "I'n sawwa!" She sniffed. "I jas waned t'elp m' faare."[/b] The girl was incomprehensible. "He wento mntins adver came baawaaah!" Rasa hesitated for a moment. Could this girl have sought him out for a personnel reason? She was clearly upset, but her reasons were unclear.
Rasa embedded the second scythe into the wall next to him. He wasn't convinced this girl wasn't a thief, and he wasn't going to take any chances. "Hey, girl. Listen closely. If you move so much as an inch that chain wrapped around you will slice into you like butter. It's unlikely that you'll get out without serious injury. I'm going to go downstairs and ask someone to translate for you because you're incomprehensible. I'll be right back." He didn't know if she could even hear him over the sound of her bawling, but she did seem to stop moving. He hoped she wouldn't kill herself before he got back. He still had questions.

He didn't actually go get someone. He just waited outside for five minutes listening for sounds of struggle. He came back into the room and saw the girl standing there, just like he had left her five minutes ago. With the exception of a few dozen minor cuts where the chain had dug into her flesh.
"Well, are we feeling better now?" The question was rhetorical. He felt the same way he always did, and she was in a spot where he could kill her at a moments thought. At least she had stopped crying. "Let's try this again shall we? Who are you, and why are you here?"
"My name is Ly'rea Bel'Tonde. I wanted to save my father so I came looking for a weapon." She still sniffled a bit, and her eyes were as red as his hair, but at least she could be understood this time.
"Save your father from what? And why my weapon?"
"You're the only one in town with a real weapon! You have to help him! The beast is going to eat him! Please!"
"What beast? Why should I help? It's not like this beast of yours did anything to me."
"The beast in the mountains. Please you have to save my father! If you do I'll... I'll marry you!."
Marriage? Was this girl sane? She was only eleven! And Rasa was still seventeen! Still, it was obvious she was willing to do anything for him if he got her father back. And if her father isn't the only one, I could come out with a nice reward too. He pulled a scythe free of the door, letting the imprisoning chain drop to the floor. "Alright, I'll help you. Show me were this 'beast' of yours is."

It was late by the time they made it to where Ly'rea thought the beast's lair was. Or early depending on your definition. Rasa shivered in the breeze even though it wasn't quite the time of year for frost to kiss the mountain tops. Ly'rea didn't seem to feel a thing. Slowly he walked into the cave before him. Soot appeared in regularly spaced patches along the walls, and the ground displayed any number of footprints. Clearly used frequently, and not by some beast either. Something doesn't add up.
His fearless companion leading, he quietly let his chain scythe unwind and drop link after link to the floor. In the nearly pitch darkness it would be impossible to see if you didn't know where it was. Rasa hated to lose his weapon, but he trusted in his speed and agility to get him through any rough spots ahead. And if what he feared was ahead actually was ahead a trap could prove useful.
The two rounded a corner and light blossomed inside a large... well, cavern. A grim man with an evil smirk sat casually on top of a barrel in the center, "Welcome to my home." He didn't sound welcoming. Two guards appeared out of the darkness and grabbed each of Rasa's arms. "Is this the best you can do girl? Just one boy? He's not even a man! Well, a deal is a deal so... I'll give you two pieces of gold for him. And don't give me that look, you're lucky I'll even give you that much for one scrawny under aged boy." He tossed two shiny coins at Ly'rea. "Now go get me more slaves to sell if you want to be reunited with your precious father."
Betrayal. This girl had sold Rasa to slavers for two pieces of gold! He struggled against the two brutes that held him like vices. "Now now, you don't want to hurt yourself. You'll lower your price if you're injured. And if you get hurt too badly you won't sell at all so we'll be forced to kill you."

Immediately Rasa started to think. He now knew about their slave trade operations so he couldn't be allowed to live if he escaped. Which meant that if he did escape they would surely give chase. And if they chased, they would be cut down by Rasa's full might. The question was, how to get free? He found Ly'rea scooping up the coins, a look of sorrow on her face. So,she was forced into this was she? It doesn't matter, she betrayed me. I'll do with her what I must. Looking back at the obvious leader the prisoner began to hatch a plan.
"So, you're this 'beast' that has been attacking the village are you? Release me now and I'll spare your lives."
"Release you? You'll spare our lives?" The leader laughed. "We're the ones that are sparing yours! What can you possibly do to us now?"
"I see. Then don't beg me for mercy at the end, you won't find it." Rasa hooked his left leg between his captor's and rotated. His right arm popped out of it's socket with an audible snap as the guard on the left lost his balance and started to fall while his right arm now slid out of his captors loosened grip. Thank the gods he didn't expect me to harm myself like that or this wouldn't have worked. Momentum tugged on Rasa's left arm and he went with it, giving the guard a nasty head butt right as he hit the ground. The guard's grip disintegrated along with his consciousness. Clambering to his feet Rasa sprinted towards the entrance in an effort to escape. The slaver all the while screaming for guards to chase him.
He picked up the end of his weapon furthest from the pursuers with his good left hand and waited for them to come round the corner after him. When they did, Rasa yanked his weapon as hard as he could, chain springing into the air and scythe flying towards his call like a horizontal guillotine. Never expecting to be attacked from behind the pursuers fell to this wicked trap. Some got caught in their legs and had them either cut off or sliced to the point of permanent loss of use. A few got hit slightly higher and their cries filled the hideout as they futilely tried to hold themselves together. Lucky ones made it through the barrage with nothing more then minor cuts, but they were meet by a now armed and merciless Rasa. Soon he was the only one standing.
Calmly he walked back into the hideout, dragging chain behind him so that it echoed hauntingly as he came closer. The lead slaver saw him smeared with blood and started to panic. "Stay back! Please, don't hurt me! Do you want money? I've got money. Here, take it!" He threw a few handfuls of money at the ground between himself and his sudden demonic enemy.
"Tell me, where are the people you took?"
"N..n...next room b...back. You...you'll need a key. Here!" He pulled off a necklace with a key attached and hung it in the space between them while his pants noticeably got a dark spot that spread from the center.
Rasa snagged the key and threw it to Ly'rea where she sat on the floor. "Go free your father kid, and don't look back." He waited for the sounds of her scrambling to fade into darkness before raising the end of the scythe over his head. "I thought I told you not to beg for mercy." And he swung the blade down hard. He heard noise again and spun around to see Ly'rea leading a group of men from further in the caves towards the exit. Clearly the prisoners. "Excuse me!" He called out to the men. "I need to have a few words with that girl and her father. The rest of you go home." The men looked at each other then began to shuffle their way to freedom while the girl her father carefully walked towards Rasa.
"Are you the one responsible for saving us? Thank you so much. How can we repay you?" Father was obviously worried about being called over by a man covered in blood and carrying such a viciously proven weapon.
"You see, it's about your daughter..."
