Down time (Zhi)

[Zhou Yu]

(not got much time so mini posting)

Zhou Yu wore his hood up as he walked across the main street of Jian Ye's merchant district. He did not want to risk being identified as working for Wu. Relations between the two cites was strained at the moment due to his oath brother Sun Ce. A clever move but one that left him in an uncomfortable position when he wanted to go drinking at the local tavern. Not that drinking was his main goal. He needed to collect info on the thoughts of the people and there feelings toward there current lord. That and he needed a drink.

He pushed open the door of the closest tavern and stepped inside. It smelled of old wine but it was a smell he was used too. Besides which it meant he was in the right place.

"Wine please." Zhou Yu asked sliding a coin across the table. His accent alone would mark him as being of noble birth even as well as he manged to hide it.

Zhi took a sip of his wine and looked around the tavern. Zhi was there for really no important reason. Zhi had been in the area and he decided to come inot the city and check it out. It wasn't like he was an enemy to the city, he was just a travaler who needed a place to sleep.

Zhi took a look at the person who just walked into the tavern, and just by looking at him, Zhi could tell he was no normal man. Zhi, with nothing else to do, got up and walked towards the man to see who he was, and, to play around with him a bit."Hello stranger,may I ask why someone with such a proper accent and fine clothing would be found here in this dump of a place?"

Zhou Yu took the wine the bar tender pushed across the table. He took a tiny sip and then replaced it on the bar again. He never drank much since it interfered with his ability to think clearly. Still it he found it was wise to give the appearance of drinking deeply it tended to put others off there guard. As he turned away from the bar he noticed another man looking at him as he walked over. Zhou Yu believed you could learn a lot about a man with a single glance if you were observant. He could tell this man was a warrior from his build and from that he was still alive probably a good one. But he did not ware the garb of the city watch of Jian Ye so he did not get worried. Perhaps the man had just noticed that he too stuck out from the crowd although for different reasons. The strangers words quickly confirmed this theory.

"Ah an observant man i see. Well the answer to your question is family, my brother went and got some people around here mad at him. He is good at that you see. So i thought it would be a good idea i come over just to make sure no one was planning any vendettas." Zhou Yu trying to make his speak sound a little slurred like he was intoxicated. He was of course not lying just not giving this man the whole truth. His oath brother Sun Ce had indeed made a few people mad at him here by stirring up pubic unrest against the local governor. Zhou Yu had decided to see how public opinion was swaying so he could calculate his next move and maybe watch Ce's back.

The man seemed to be telling the truth. Zhi laughed a little bit inside, either the man was easily intoxicated, or he was faking his slur in his voice, because the man only took just one sip of wine. Putting it aside, Zhi said to the man,"Well, I am not from around here so I know nothing about what you speak. Though I am bored, I could help you if you want. I could use something to do."

Zhou Yu was glad for the mans offer of assistance. Although he was no push over himself it was all ways good to gave a skilled warrior to watch your back. It was clear he also was not of this city so he cold trust him in this matter. Although if he was to trust to him he would have to tell this man a little more details. Meeting a new ally might make the trip worth while anyway.

"A Generous offer. Very well i am Zhou Yu of Wu the brother i spoke of was Sun Ce son of Sun Jian." He whispered raising his voice just enough for only Zhi Fang to hear him. It would not do to go announcing his name to everyone around here just yet.

As he spoke the tavern door opened again and a squad of city watch entered the room. They seemed to be looking for someone as they looked speculatively at everyone in the room. Zhou Yu turned away from them hiding his face. One hand went under his robes to the hilt of his sword just in case.

Zhi was taken back when he heard the man's name. When Zhi was an officer of Wu, he never met Zhou Yu, he must have been away on some buisness concerning Wu. Zhi knew that Wu wanted this city, they wanted to unify all of Jiang Dong, and this city would probably be their biggest challenge."Well my name is Zhi Fang, pleased to meet you. Okay, where should we sta..."

Zhi was about to finish what he was saying when a group of guards walked into the tavern. They must have heard that Zhou Yu, or a officer of Wu was here and they were here looking for him. Smiling, Zhi looked to Zhou Yu and whispered,"Should we sneak away, or should we confront them? I would love to put my sword to use."

[Zhou Yu]

Zhou Yu used a mirror behind the bar to keep an eye on the guards while trying to looked relaxed. They were starting to question people and demand to see there faces they would not remain anonymous for long. However starting a fight would get people killed he wasn't sure he wanted that either. Before he could make up his mine there was another disturbance outside. He could here people shouting.

"Liu Yao cant protect up, Sun Ce turn to him instead." People were yelling outside from the sound of it Sun Ce was trying to inspire some kind of uprising. It looked like the situation here was more serious than he had even thought possible. Zhou Yu knew the guards would react in only one way to this they would go on a killing spree against there own people.

"Well Zhi Fang i don't know about you but iv had about enough of hiding. If things are gonna get bloody I'm not getting left out." Zhou Yu said smiling happy to have the decision made. That meant all that was left was the fighting. He pulled his sword and spun around in one swift move as he did so extending his hand for a quick cutting attack. His sword taking one surprised guard across the back of the neck as he looked toward the doorway. Not wanting to waste advantage he stepped in past the falling body to stab the next guard in the guts. He retracted his blade while kicking the body at another man to slow him down and give himself time to recover his balance.

Before Zhou Yu even finished speaking, Zhi was already running towards a group of the troops, sword in hand.(To avoid confusion, these troops will be on a different side of the room, away from you, just ot make it less confusing if we were attacking the same exact guard.)Zhi met a guards sword swing with one of his own. Zhi's swing hit the guard's word, causing it to fly out of the man's hands. Zhi brought the blade back up with an upward slash, cutting open the guard's chest. Two guards ran at Zhi, one of them did a downward swing at Zhi. The other ran to Zhi's side and ran towards him, hoping to impale Zhi. Smiling, Zhi did a quick jump backwords, and when the first guards sword came down, the second guard was right where Zhi used to be and he was cut by his own fellow guard's blade. Zhi ran towards the bleeding guard and kicked him hard, pushing him into the other guard, knocking him onto the floor. Hearing something behind him, Zhi quickly turned around and blocked a sword slash that almost cut Zhi in two. The two swords were held together in a deadly weapon lock, each man holding his own against the other.

Zhou Yu dispatched his last opponent with ease, cutting his throat with a clean cut before he could rise from the floor. People were screaming now and backing away towards the sides of the room not wanting to get between these two deadly warriors and their foes. Fortunately the fight was almost over with the squad of guards nearly annihilated in moments. Zhou Yu turned to check on Zhi Fang’s progress and saw his grappling with one of the last enemies. He grabbed a sword from a dead guard and threw it end over end, it struck the man in the back and he was fighting with Zhi Fang. It wasn’t the most honourable move but he suspected they were in for a busy day anyway.

“Damn I planned on things being peaceful today, but I guess there isn’t much chance of that now is there.” Zhou Yu said wiping his blade clean on a dead guard before sheathing it again. It sounded like something of a riot was going on outside. Perhaps some of the locals were happy to join Wu and others were not. If the local governors troops joined in things would get ugly.

“I suggest we get out of here and see what is going on out there. Besides if any more guards arrive here we can ambush them as they try to enter.” He suggested moving toward the door. His hand on the hilt of his blade still expecting trouble.

Zhi watched as his opponent slowly fell to the ground, and when Zhi saw the man's back, he knew the cause of it. Zhi wiped the blood of of his sword and he began to walk towards Zhou Yu."Ha, there is no possible way for peace to find a hold in this time of chaos. Though I wish that there was, we must get out of this chaos by making a little chaos of our own. I agree, we should head out now, you can take point."As Zhi said this, he pointed his hand towards the door, gesturing Zhou Yu to go ahead.

As soon as Zhou Yu pushed open the door he realized things were as chaotic outside as they had been in the tavern. It seemed the people of the city were swaying in there loyalty to Wu or there current Governor, everyone seem confused and worried. No doubt this was Sun Ce doing. No wonder the local guards had been trying to arrest him or anyone else new to the city. It was possible in this confusion that they could blend into the crowd and be very hard to spot. It seemed there was some use to this chaos after all.

"Zhi Fang perhaps we should get out of here more guards will be coming. However iv had an idea. If there is something going on here if we destroy the bell in the city watch station they will have no way of calling there forces once they realize whats wrong. They will have to make do with only what men they have on hand" Zhou Yu suggested improvising as he went along. No doubt by the time they reached the station he would have an even better plan. It should help them and Sun Ce too.

Might as well join them up now your right. Zhi make your next post in that thread i could move my last past too but dont see a lot of point. I will just write one there too.
