This was my English assignment. It was supposed to be about asking someone on a date, but I wanted to spice things up and show that everybody deserves to be part of a proper writing topic without being discriminated and laughed at. Oh, and it was supposed to be under 399 words, is why it's so short.
The Date
The park was quiet and somewhat empty that rainy afternoon. As the dark clouds clashed together in a furious war of tears and their clear watery blood, the two figures sat motionless under the liquids anointing them from heaven. One of them, significantly taller yet quite the slimmer type, was safely tucked underneath the protective sanctuary of his colorful rainbow umbrella. And yet the other, who sat opposing the well-sheltered male, was fully drenched in the raindrops that constantly pelted his figure without mercy, unprotected by even a piece of cloth and seemingly unwilling to provide himself with one either.
"So... Why did you call me here?" the soaking figure asked in a tone of slight annoyance at the circumstances that had befallen him.
"I just wanted to... tell you something," came the uneasy response.
"Well, what is it, Sam? I¡¯m not going to wait here all day."
Sam looked away at his friend¡¯s straightforward interrogations. As much as Bob might assume that he was being a delaying coward or a total retard who could find no words to speak, it just wasn¡¯t an understandable situation. Nobody could ever know what he felt like at that moment, during the days before, all those times when he had struggled to get over these feelings. Feelings of utmost respect, attraction, and... romance. But no! He was a guy, a healthy male teenager, and his newly acquired comrade shared that fact. It was just wrong, to let out his feelings, to even THINK about them.
And yet... he couldn¡¯t resist. For every time he refused to accept them, they only grew stronger, the bond seeming to close in with such a rapid space that even light years could not measure the speed of this... growth of emotions.
"Well?!"
"Um, Bob."
"Yeah?"
"Will you... will you go out with me?"
The moment of silence and desperation, crashed together with anxiety and the endless pounding of the heart. Sam had finally brought up the courage to speak, to shout it out, to look up and stare straight into the deep blue eyes of his one love. But now that the moment had actually passed, his dark thoughts of doubt and despair once more overwhelmed him. That was, until it was all shattered with that one word.
"...Yes."
